Healthcare constraints

Microsoft's advertising policy restricts sensitive categories; person-level health segments are out in the EEA. Contextual and area-level routes remain, legal review required.

Limitations

  • Product strategy has been in flux since the Microsoft acquisition; verify roadmap and support commitments before signing.
  • The channel palette is narrower than TTD's, without audio and DOOH depth.
  • Marketplace segments for DACH are fewer than on the US lists.

A fit when

  • Teams with Xandr history that want to keep using deals and feeds.
  • Setups that pull log-level data for their own attribution.
  • Deal-centric buying through Curate instead of the open auction.

Not a fit when

  • You need long-term product commitments without roadmap risk.
  • Audio and DOOH shares carry the plan; then TTD or Adform.

Privacy fit and data routes

First-party segments enter the seat via upload or server hookup, third-party segments from the marketplace. The privacy fit follows the usual pattern: ID-based routes need consent proof and legal review, while area routes through geo targeting and Curate deals work without personal identifiers.

Third-party data and cost

Data CPMs are itemised per segment, which eases calculation and fee audits. Segment selection for DACH trails the US lists; as everywhere, check provenance and policy considerations of individual segments before use.

Measurement, clean room and log-level

The log-level data feeds are the Xandr heritage with the most value: impression and auction data in your own warehouse, attribution independent of the platform report. A dedicated clean room does not exist; partnership analyses run over the feeds or external environments.

Implementation

Pixel plus server-side conversion delivery from the shared event stream, deal setup through Curate. Put the feed pipeline into the warehouse from the start, and get roadmap and support commitments in writing during contract negotiation.

Preparing AreaSignal for Microsoft Invest review

AreaSignal is in development and market-entry phase. First integrations are coming soon. For planning and integration conversations, AreaSignal delivers geo segments with geography lists, scores, confidence, exclusion flags and exports. Field context: DSP comparison.

Assumptions behind the verdict

  • DACH campaigns under GDPR constraints.
  • A warehouse of your own to consume the data feeds.
