About
We build the data and tracking architecture your marketing runs reliably on
Datascale One is a small engineering team based in Gräfelfing near Munich. We take care of the part of marketing nobody sees and that still decides everything: tracking, data models, pipelines and the server-side stack. So the numbers in your report are ones you can actually rely on. Started 2019 as freelance, GmbH since 2024.
What we are
One layer deeper. Whoever sells, builds. Deliberately small.
Most agencies think in campaigns. We think one layer deeper, at the data. When tracking is clean, events are accurate and pipelines hold, the rest mostly takes care of itself. When they don't, even the best dashboard can't save it.
Whoever sells, also builds. In your first call you talk to Juri, Alex or Anna, and the same person writes the code afterwards. No account-manager firewall, no juniors sold as seniors.
Seven years, 70+ setups across DACH, across retail, MedTech, FMCG and automotive. We know the typical dead-ends; most of them we built ourselves first. We stay deliberately small: many clients from our earliest years are still with us today. We'd rather have that than fast growth.
Team
Direct contact with the team: from founder to junior.
No anonymous consultant roles, no account managers as a firewall. You work with the people who actually build. Senior and junior alike.

Our conviction
EU-first for EU clients. Flexible across borders.
A stance, not a marketing claim. That's how we decide where your data lives.
For Europe, the EU stack is the default.
BigQuery in EU regions, Plausible self-hosted on a server in Germany, consent tools with EU data residency. US cloud only comes in when there's a real reason, and then with the right contracts. The benefit is simple: your data still works in five years' time, without you having to rebuild everything.
Outside the EU, we follow the case, not a principle.
If you have markets or subsidiaries beyond Europe, you often need tools that only exist in the US ecosystem. Then we build mixed: storage in the EU where possible, US tools where the business actually needs them, and clean governance across both. What carries the actual project wins.
EU-first für DACH
Where your data lives.
Default stack for DACH clients, seven layers from consent to activation. Filter by trust category to see where your own tools land.

CMP
Usercentrics
Munich · EU
EU-native
?
DACH standard for IAB TCF v2.2. Hosted in Germany, GDPR-configured. We set up the EU variant with clean categories and Consent Mode v2 signalling. -
Tagging
sGTM · stape.io
Frankfurt · EU
EU-native
?
Server-side tagging via stape.io. Datascale has been a certified partner since February 2025. EU region Frankfurt, ad-blocker-resistant, first-party cookies, clean event-routing logic. -
Analytics
GA4
via sGTM · EU
EU-configurable
?
GA4 as the mainstream default. EU-compliant with server-side routing via stape.io and Consent Mode v2. No US hits without SCCs, clean event schema, BigQuery export from day one. -
Warehouse
BigQuery
europe-west3
EU-native
?
Standard warehouse for GA4 data. EU region (europe-west3 Frankfurt or eu-multi) as default. No US cross-region replication without a business reason. The GA4 free-tier export covers most mid-market setups. -
Modeling
dbt
runs on the warehouse
EU-configurable
?
The layer between raw events and KPIs. We build dbt models that are readable for AI models, clean naming conventions, version control, tests per model. dbt-core self-hosted, or dbt Cloud (US, with SCCs) depending on the compliance bar. -
BI
Power BI (EU tenant)
Frankfurt · EU
EU-configurable
?
EU tenant for EU clients. Microsoft hosts in Frankfurt and Amsterdam. Standard choice for DACH mid-market and enterprise on the Microsoft stack. For GA4-only setups, Looker Studio is often enough. -
Activation
Hightouch
US · managed
US with SCCs
?
US-managed reverse ETL and the de-facto standard for composable CDP. Often the best choice for international setups, with SCCs, DPA and clean data classification. RudderStack as the EU open-source alternative when the compliance bar requires it.
Also supported:
- Cookiebot
?
EU-native CMP for smaller sites. Hosted in Frankfurt, simpler setup than OneTrust, no IAB TCF overhead required. - OneTrust
?
Runs as an EU instance with DPA, we deploy it GDPR-compliant for EU clients. Default choice when an enterprise contract is already in place. - Plausible CE
?
Privacy-first analytics, self-hosted on Hetzner. For sites that should run without a consent banner, and for clients who want data minimisation as a feature. - Matomo
?
EU-native analytics heavyweight, self-hosted or as an EU-managed service. Lots of features, a bit heavier than Plausible CE. - Snowflake
?
Non-Google warehouse alternative. EU region Frankfurt as default. More common for unified BI, less so for pure GA4 pipelines. - Looker Studio
?
Free Google BI with a native GA4 connector. Good for tactical dashboards, weaker for modelling depth. Often enough for SMB setups. - Census
?
Hightouch alternative. US-managed reverse ETL, similar capabilities, different pricing logic. - RudderStack
?
Open-source composable CDP alternative. Self-hosted in an EU region, the strict variant to Hightouch/Census when US-managed is not an option. - funnel.io
?
Paid-media aggregation, German company, EU-hosted. Datascale is a certified partner. Default choice for POAS / cross-channel reporting in DACH.

What we don't do.
- Pitch decks for other pitch decks
- Account managers as a firewall
- Dashboards nobody opens
- Tracking that folds before the first ad-blocker
- US cloud by default · without a business reason
- Migrations that need redoing in five years

Why not a freelancer?
Three senior specialists instead of one. If Alex is out, Anna or Juri keep building; your setup doesn't hang on one person. Juri was a freelancer himself from 2019 to 2024, we know the ceiling from experience.
-
Why not a big consultancy?
At Datascale, the person in your first call is the same one who writes the code. No hand-offs between pitch and delivery, no juniors sold as seniors. If your plan doesn't work, you hear that in the first call, even if it costs us the mandate.
-
Why not an in-house team?
If your stack is stable and the volume justifies it, in-house is almost always better. We are the bridge before that: build the foundation, hand it over to your team, stay as sparring partners for the unusual questions. Done it many times.
-
When are we the wrong choice?
When you need 200 hours of discovery, a brand name for the boardroom slide, campaign execution (creative, media, ads ops), or a single 8-hour ticket. Better providers exist for those, and we'll tell you who.
