Datascale builds the tracking and data architecture that our clients' marketing runs on. As a Junior Digital Analytics Engineer you implement tracking concepts: GA4 events, GTM containers, dataLayer specifications for the client's developers. You work on client projects from week one, with Alex or Juri as your sparring partner on every setup.

The path runs from client-side tracking to server-side GTM, the BigQuery export and Consent Mode V2. After 90 days you look after your first containers on your own, after a year whole setups.

Other companies call this role Junior Web Analyst, Tracking Specialist or Junior Digital Analytics Consultant. It is the same work.

Responsibilities

What you build at Datascale.

Implement tracking concepts in GA4 and GTM: events, conversions, custom dimensions, e-commerce trackingWrite dataLayer specifications that developers can implement without a follow-up callTest and debug setups with DebugView, Tag Assistant and the browser console before the client notices anythingDocument containers and setups so they keep running without youBuild Looker Studio dashboards and keep an eye on data qualityJoin client calls with Alex and Juri: listen first, own your own topics after three months

Profile

What you bring.

Degrees interest us less than the setups you have run. The list is meant literally: if the first items do not apply, the interview would waste your time and ours.

At least one year of hands-on GA4 and Google Tag Manager work in a production setup, not just a courseYou can read a dataLayer, write a push and set a GTM trigger on itBasic HTML, CSS and JavaScript: DOM, event listeners, browser consoleA basic grasp of consent: what a CMP does, what Consent Mode V2 changesYou use LLMs for SQL, documentation and debugging hypotheses, and you check the output before it goes into a setupBusiness-fluent German (C1 or better) is mandatory: the DACH market and client calls run in German. English at documentation levelResident in Germany with a valid work permit at the start date, both mandatoryThe habit of distrusting a number until you know where it came from

Nice to have

First contact with server-side GTM, stape.io or Cloud RunSQL, ideally on the GA4 export in BigQueryMeta Conversions API or Enhanced Conversions set up at least oncePiwik PRO, Matomo or Adobe Analytics seen alongside GA4Shopware or Shopify: you have touched a shop system's dataLayer before
