Buy it or run it
The ELT question is an operating-model question. Fivetran sells the promise that nobody has to think about pipelines again, and in daily practice it keeps it. Airbyte sells freedom: any source, any region, any edge case, paid for in your own maintenance.
Our field rule is unspectacular. Standard sources plus no data team equals Fivetran; long tail, data residency, or an existing platform crew equals Airbyte. Mixed setups are legitimate, by the way, critical routes managed, the rest self-hosted.
The individual verdicts live on the tool pages: Fivetran and Airbyte. The architecture conversation continues in the Marketing Data Lakehouse service.
